SBI PO Prelims: Sectional Cut Off not to be considered for recrutiment

April 05, 2019

According to SBI PO 2019 recruitment advertisement released on April 2, there will be no sectional cut-off and category wise merit list will be drawn only on the basis of the aggregate marks scored in the Preliminary Exam.

SBI had removed "sectional cut off" criteria from the prelims selection process of PO recruitment, in 2018. Prior to that, candidates had to qualify in each of three sections, separately, to qualify the prelims. SBI PO prelims will be held on June 8, 9, 15 and 16. Admit cards will be released in the third week of May.

The SBI PO prelims will comprise three sections-English languages, Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning Ability. The exam will carry a total of 100 marks and candidates will be allowed 1 hour (20 minutes for each section) for the exam.

"Candidates numbering 10 times the numbers of vacancies (approx.) in each category will be shortlisted for Main Examination from the top of above merit list," reads the notification.

The State Bank of India (SBI) announced to fill up 2000 Probationary Officer vacancies on April 2. Online registration for the recruitment will be open till April 22. A graduate in any discipline from a recognized University or with an equivalent qualification is eligible to apply for SBI PO 2019 recruitment. Those who are in the final year or semester of their degree program can also apply provisionally. However, if called for an interview, they will have to produce proof of having passed the graduation examination on or before August 31, 2019.

Under the 10% reservation quota, 200 vacancies are reserved for candidates belonging to the EWS category.

Selection to the post will be held in three phases i.e. Preliminary Examination, Main Examination, and Group Exercise & Interview.
