March 13, 2019

Governor-cum-chancellor of universities Lalji Tandon on Tuesday said higher education in state needed qualitative changes and development.

Addressing the ninth convocation of Lalit Narayan Mithila University (LNMU) here, Tandon said the Raj Bhavan has taken several initiatives, such as maintenance of academic calendar, introduction of biometric attendance system, choice-based credit system and university information management system, to improve higher education in the state.

“I am pleased to note that girls are outshining boys in many universities of the state. Of the 51 gold medallists in this convocation too, 31 are girls. LNMU and some other universities in the state have set an example as far as women empowerment is concerned,” the chancellor said.

Tandon lauded LNMU for NAAC accreditation of colleges, formulisation of Vision-2030, regularisation of academic session and organisation of seminars and workshops.

LNMU VC S K Singh said altogether 450 guest teachers have been appointed in different colleges affiliated to the university to ease the shortage of teachers.
