Around 6,26,726 candidates appeared for the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) Combined Civil Services Examination-II (Interview Posts) for Group 2, conducted on Sunday from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.
Through the TNPSC examination 2018, a total of 1199 vacancies to be filled in various departments including the Jaffna Officer, Municipal Commissioner and Assistant Division Officer in Tamil Nadu.
The examination was conducted at 2,268 centres across Tamil Nadu.
In Madurai district, out of a total of 34,476 candidates, only 25,419 candidates appeared to take the test.
In Dindigul among the 17,353 candidates allowed, 12,579 turned up for the examination. In percentage, only 72.49 candidates turned up. The exam took place in 66 centres in 44 places across the district. 12 flying squads were formed. Dindigul district collector D G Vinay inspected some of the centres.
Elaborate arrangements were made at the examination centres by the district administration. Madurai district collector S Natarajan also visited a number of centres and made sure all necessary arrangements were placed. After the examination, the answer sheets were collected and securely transported to the treasury under armed police protection.
Officials said that flying squad and station inspection officer were put in for every centre to ensure a fair examination.
Meanwhile, the examination authorities announced that the answer keys to the examination will be published within this week. The answer keys will be published online on the official website - tnpsc.gov.in.
